What is a Hazardous Materials Engineer’s license ? What is Japan Fire Engineering Qualification Center ?
The Hazardous Materials Engineer Examination is a national qualification in Japan for handling hazardous materials or supervising their handling.
The prefectural governor issues certificates to Hazardous Materials Engineers. While prefectural governors may administer the examination themselves, they may also designate examination agencies to conduct it. Currently, all prefectures have designated the Japan Fire Engineering Qualification Center to administer the Hazardous Materials Engineer Examination.
Branches of the Japan Fire Engineering Qualification Center exist in all prefectures, including Tokyo.
The name of the Tokyo Branch of the Japan Fire Engineering Qualification Center is the Central Testing Center , Chuo shiken center .
Applications for certificate issuance must be submitted to the branch of the Japan Fire Engineering Qualification Center or the Central Examination Center located in the prefecture where you reside or work. Certain applications can only be processed at the branch or Central Examination Center where the certificate was originally issued or renewed. For each application, please confirm which prefectural branch or Central Examination Center will handle the renewal.

License holders must renew their license photograph once every ten years.

Update the registerd domicile on your Hazardous Materials Engineer’s license
When changing your registered domicile to a different prefecture than your current one, you must update your registered domicile.
If you are not changing the prefecture of your registered domicile, or if you are only changing your address without changing your registered domicile, you do not need to go through the procedure for changing your registered domicile.
